Direct Deposit
What is Direct Deposit?
Direct Deposit is a safe and easy way to have your money deposited
directly into your Northwest United account. Direct Deposit allows
a company or organization to electronically deposit money to your
account on a scheduled basis. So instead of taking the time to cash
a check yourself, the money will automatically be deposited into
your account on the appointed date. It’s that simple!
Why should I use Direct Deposit?
Direct Deposit offers you many advantages over checks, including:
- Convenience: No more special trips to the credit union to cash
your check.
- Reliability: No more waiting for your check to arrive in the
mail. You can have peace of mind knowing your money will always
be in your account on time.
- Security: No more worrying about lost, stolen, or misplaced checks.
- Flexibility: At Northwest United, your Direct Deposit payment
can be automatically distributed into multiple accounts,
such as your share draft checking or share savings account, a Holiday
account, or a loan account. You can also have money distributed
into your child or other family members’ accounts automatically.
How can I be sure my direct deposit was made?
Normally, the payer will give you a payment stub or notice that
lets you know the amount of the payment deposited to your account.
You can also go to www.nufcu.com and log onto our online banking
system or use the Telephone Teller to check the status of your deposits
24 hours a day, seven days a week. The deposit will also be shown
on your monthly statement. TIP: Keep the stub from the payer for
your records.
When can I access the money deposited into my account?
Your money will be available for you the morning of the payment
date.
How do I begin using Direct Deposit?
Ask your payer if they offer Direct Deposit. If they do, simply
tell them you want to sign up for the service and they will provide
you with the forms and instructions to get started. Northwest United
can help you complete any authorization forms.
Can I change my direct deposit at any time?
Yes. You are in control of your direct deposit.
Loans How long is a pre-approval auto loan good for?
A pre-approval auto loan is valid for 30 days. This time usually
gives members enough time to find the Car, Truck, Van or SUV they
are looking for. If you need more time, just contact us at 303 424
5037 ext122 or toni@nufcu.com.
How does Northwest United's overdraft protection plan work?
If a check comes through and you do not have enough money in your
checking account to cover it we will first look at your primary savings
account or your Line of Credit (LOC). If you have available funds
in either account they will be transferred over to cover the check.
If there are not sufficient funds in the savings or LOC to cover
the check Northwest United may, at our discretion, pay the check
and charge a $25 fee.
I made a purchase with my Visa Check Card yesterday. Why
hasn't’t the transaction cleared my account yet?
The delay in posting visa check card transactions depends upon how
often the merchant processes his/her debit card transactions. Northwest
United has no control over how quickly these items post. A hold is
placed on your account for the amount of the purchase when the merchant
swipes your card, the transaction itself will usually post within
1-5 days depending on when the merchant processes it. Once it posts
you will be able to see the description of the purchase online
What are secured loans?
Loans that are secured by some type of collateral such as a car,
boat, house, etc.
What is revolving credit?
A loan that can be used, paid off, and used over and over again
like a credit card or a line of credit.
What is simple interest?
Simple interest means you only pay interest for the length of time
you have the loan. For example, if you took out a 5-year loan but
paid it off in 3 years, you would only be charged interest for 3
years.
Home Equity Line of Credit
How much equity do I have in my house?
If you own your home, even if you recently purchased it or refinanced
it, you probably owe less that what its market value is. The difference
between what you owe and what your home is worth is called equity.
How does a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) Work?
A HELOC is easy to use. Let’s say your house is worth $150,000.00
and you recently borrowed 60% of its value or $90,000.00. A Northwest
United HELOC allows you to borrow up to 80% of your home’s
value, less the balance on your 1st mortgage. Since you have a loan
for 80% of your home’s value, you still have another 20% left
for a HELOC, or $30,000.00.
Do I have to use a HELOC for home repairs or remodeling?
No. You can use your line of credit for any purpose, including but
not limited to home remodeling. Many people use their line of credit
to pay for college tuition, vacations, weddings, automobiles, RV’s
etc.
Is the interest on my HELOC tax deductible?
Most of the time, the interest on your home equity line of credit
is tax deductible, however, we cannot guarantee whether yours is
or not. Check with your tax advisor to make sure.
Do I need to use the entire amount of my HELOC at once?
No. The home equity line of credit is exactly that, a line of credit.
You choose how much or how little to use, when to use it and what
to use it for.
How much interest will I be charged to use my HELOC and
how much will my monthly payments be?
Northwest United HELOCs are currently available at very competitive
rates. You may draw on the funds from your line of credit for up
to 7 years and the payback period is up to 15 years.
How can I find out more about Northwest United’s HELOC?
Simple. Call one of our Loan Officers at 303-424-5037 for more information,
to check current rates, or to apply. You may also apply online at
www.nufcu.com.
